Chapter 3

SOPHIE

When Bonnie and I had arrived at the university, we’d agreed to have lunch together. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the same classes. We said goodbye to one another, and we went our separate ways.

My first class went well. It was all very interesting.

Before lunch, I still had one class left, but I got lost. I had the feeling I was walking in circles. I still had a couple of minutes left before class started, so I decided to ask someone.

I turned around and literally ran into someone. My books fell on the ground, and I cursed silently. I mumbled my apologies and looked up.

A good-looking boy looked down at me. As soon as our eyes met, we smiled at each other.

“Hi, are you okay?” he asked me.

I stood up and stumbled over my own words. “I…you… I’m sorry, I didn’t watch where I was going,” I said.

He chuckled. “Well, I must say, I don’t often meet such a beautiful girl like this.”

I blushed at his words. He was mesmerizing. I couldn’t stop looking at him. He looked like a football player. He probably had been in high school.

His brown hair was a little long, and his blue eyes were quite intense. His plump mouth looked very kissable, and his broad shoulders…

Oh my God, get yourself together, I thought.

“Uhm, thanks, I guess?” I blurted out.

He flashed a smile. “So, you’re new here, aren’t you?” he asked.

“Well, yes, I am, and I’m already lost. I was on my way to Professor Grant’s class, but I couldn’t seem to find the right building.”

“I can show you the way, but only if you tell me your name,” he said.

“Oh great, thanks. I’m Sophie, and you are?” I asked.

“My name is Will, and this is my second year here,” he said.

While Will showed me the way, he told me where his dorm was, which professor was his favorite, and which wasn’t. It didn’t take long for him to get me to the right building.

“So here we are, beautiful,” he said. “Hey, do you have any plans tonight? Because my dorm is having a party, and I thought maybe you would like to come?” he asked hopefully.

A party, my first party! Bonnie would be so excited!

“Yeah sure,” I said, “as long as my friend can come too.”

At the word friend, Will’s face changed a bit. He looked a bit angry. It only took a second and then he looked like the kind Will from before.

“Of course, your friend is welcome!” he said.

“Great,” I said. “She will be thrilled!”

A flash of relief went over Will’s face. “Well, then I’ll see you tonight, Sophie.”

“See you later, Will, and thanks,” I waved goodbye and went to my class.

At lunch, I told Bonnie everything, and as I'd expected, she was very happy to hear about the party.

The rest of the day went by very fast. I enjoyed the classes and felt really mature. After my last class, I received a message from Bonnie.

BeeHey Soof, I must go to the library for a project. I will see you in an hour or something.

I walked back to our apartment and made us some dinner.

As soon as it was ready, Bonnie walked in. Perfect timing, as always. We ate burgers and salad and talked about our first day.

It didn’t take long for Bonnie to get to the subject of Will. She was very curious about him.

She asked me so many questions, and before we knew it, the evening had set in, and we decided to change and get ready for the party. We each went to our own bedrooms.

I pulled this cute dark-blue dress out of my closet. It hugged my body perfectly. My curves showed beautifully. I put on a little more makeup.

I looked in my mirror and felt satisfied by the way I looked. I had smokey eyes, and I’d covered my lips with a nude lip gloss.

Bonnie knocked on my door and came in. She wore a green dress with a deep neckline. I told her she looked stunning. She thought my dress was more beautiful than hers.

She pointed out our eyes and the colors of our dresses. Her eyes matched more with my dress, and my eyes matched more with hers. So we decided to swap dresses. And well, what can I say? She was right.

The green of her dress really accentuated my green eyes. Even my necklace was more outstanding in this dress. It hung right above my cleavage.

We were finally ready to go to the party. We called a cab because the dorm was on the other side of the university, and we’d both worn high heels, so walking was a no-go.

The cab came just in time and brought us to Will’s dorm. It was a big modern building. It looked cold and distant… A shiver ran down my spine.

“What’s the matter, Soof?” Bonnie asked.

“It’s nothing, I guess.”

She looked a little unsure, but when I put on my smile, she seemed reassured.

“Let’s get inside, Bee,” I said.

The inside of the dorm was also very modern. I didn’t feel at home, but hey, I was here to party. So I pushed this weird feeling aside and walked into the crowd.

I tried to keep up with Bonnie, but she had a quick pace.

Suddenly, an arm wrapped around my waist and pulled me away. I looked up and gazed into Will’s handsome face.

“Good evening, beautiful,” he said. “I’m very pleased to see you in my house.”

Before I could answer, someone grabbed my arm. “There you are, Soof. I almost lost you.” Bonnie could be such a drama queen.

I rolled my eyes. “I was only gone for maybe a minute. But I have a good reason.” I looked up to Will.

Bonnie also looked up. Her face lit up like a Christmas tree.

“I’m so sorry,” she said. “I didn’t see you there. You must be Will. I’m Bonnie. I’ve heard so much…”

“BEE,” I whisper-yelled at her. “Stop it!”

Will looked with an amused face from me to Bonnie.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Bonnie,” he said.

Bonnie and Will seemed to click immediately. They talked like old friends.

But after a while, I noticed that Will had lost interest in Bonnie. He didn’t look at her anymore—instead, he looked around like he was searching for something or someone.

Out of the blue, his hand shot behind me, and he pulled a guy into our circle. “Matt, great to see you, homie. Have you met Sophie and Bonnie yet?”

Matt looked a little surprised, but then a wide grin appeared on his face.

Matt looked like a boxer. His nose was a bit crooked, but he still was a beauty of a man. He reminded me a bit of a young Bruce Willis.

Bonnie looked up at him in awe. He hugged us both and then looked at Will. Will pointed subtly to Bonnie and then focused his attention on me.

“Bonnie, want to get a drink with me?” Matt asked.

Bonnie looked at me with a big smile and left with Matt.

Will looked into my eyes and smiled. “Want to see my room?” he asked.

A strange feeling went through my body. Was it smart to go with him to his room? I mean, I’d heard the stories about these kinds of parties.

But then, Will seemed like a great guy. I trusted him, right? I decided to push the feeling away and I nodded.

“As long as you keep your hands to yourself.”
