Chapter 1

SKYE

First day at the new school and I was already ten minutes late.

The rain was pouring. My mood was the same as the weather. My back was aching, my head was throbbing, and my leg was still feeling pins and needles from last night.

I looked down at my class schedule, trying to figure out where I needed to go. I considered skipping the first few classes to just chill out and give my body time to relax and heal.

But my dad would find out and just add to my already broken and beaten-up body. I was checking the notice board when a loud shrieking laugh made me jump out of my skin.

I glanced around and locked eyes with the most gorgeous specimen I had ever seen.

His captivating eyes were crystals that seemed to look directly into my soul.

He was walking straight toward me with five other people: three guys and two girls. One girl was practically jumping at him, trying to get his attention.

I couldn’t blame her. He was sex on legs, his entire look screamed it, somehow making my mouth dry up and drool at the same time.

His pitch-black hair was styled back, and the most stunning chiseled face, with sharp cheekbones, a straight nose, and inviting kiss-me lips.

His black shirt strained against his broad muscular chest, hiding very little from my dirty imagination. Tattoos peeked from his collar and sleeves, accentuating his hulking arms.

By the way his muscles flexed as he walked, I guessed he had a mouthwatering six-pack underneath. It made me clench my thighs together.

Down, girl! I scolded myself. ~Good Lord, what is wrong with you? It’s the first day of school and you are already drooling over a guy.~

I looked back at the board and managed to find directions to my first class. Switching my bag to my other shoulder, I turned around only to bump into a solid wall of muscle.

I stepped back, rubbing my nose and craning my head up to look at the person I had walked into, and my soul just died.

“Watch it!” he said, scowling down at me like I was a pathetic little ant, yet I could have sworn his eyes flashed with something other than irritation.

“Well, ex-fucking-scuse you, Princess!” I retorted, glaring back at him and rubbing my aching nose.

His nostrils flared at me, and his face hardened even more. Anyone else would have moved to another country at the sight of that scowl, but me? I just laughed.

“What?” he growled, his face turning red with annoyance.

“Nothing, Princess. You already wasted enough of my time.”

I turned around and walked away from them but didn’t get far before the jumping chihuahua grabbed my arm and yanked me back. Her face was so close, I could feel her eyeball against mine.

“Excuse you, bitch! Who the hell do you think you are, talking to my man like that?” she demanded, trying to sound like the biggest bitch alive. My mouth talked before my brain could stop it. Again.

“Good God, you need a Tic Tac.” I waved my hand in front of my nose, trying to get rid of the smoky smell of her breath.

She was stunning, but a typical blonde Barbie with huge tits and a tiny waist. Such a cliché with these types of men.

Her shocked face and the three guys chuckling behind him told me she wasn’t used to being talked to like this, so I just rolled my eyes and looked at him again.

He had a faint smirk as his eyes studied me. Blushing, I turned around and went to my class. Twenty minutes late. That got me my first detention slip, plus extra homework.

In third period, I met this crazy-looking curly-haired girl named Mona. She was loud and had no filter. She just said the first thing that popped into her head and went with it.

I loved her immediately. We just clicked.

Lunchtime came and she showed me to the cafeteria, where we got food before going outside to the courtyard.

“Mona!” A tall, cute guy called her over and she dragged me along to the table.

All eyes were on me, and I hated it. I usually preferred to blend in.

“What’s up, bitches? This is Skye. Skye, this is the gang: Elsie, Evan, Nathan, and this sexy thing here is my girl, Liza,” she said before bending down, kissing Liza, and sitting on her lap.

I blushed as I greeted them. It usually took me a day or two to get comfortable with people.

The guys kept asking me all kinds of things: where was I from, what was my favorite color, where I lived, was I single? I just laughed and answered some of the questions.

Elsie and Nathan were looking lovingly at each other, but they didn’t speak much.

“Are you guys together?” I asked. Life would be easier if I knew where everyone stood with each other. Elsie choked on her juice, and Nathan’s face turned red.

“We all know it, but they don’t…yet,” Liza said, winking at Elsie and laughing as a wet serviette was tossed at her face.

“N-no, we are just friends,” Elsie said, blushing at Nathan. Nathan just smiled at her and sipped his juice before he resumed talking to Evan about his weekend game.

The bell rang and Mona showed me to my next class. I opened the door, and the only seat available was right next to Mr. Asshat himself. I squared my shoulders and walked over.

“What do you think you’re doing?” he asked between clenched teeth.

“Sitting down, so be a peach and keep quiet,” I replied, looking him right in the eyes. He just rolled his eyes at me. The most beautiful eyes I had ever seen. I couldn’t look away.

“Just like all of them,” he muttered under his breath, shaking his head.

“Not interested, Princess,” I whispered back at him, turning all my attention to the teacher, ignoring his eyes burning a hole into my head.

By the time the class was over, I was so relieved to get away from him. I grabbed all my stuff and headed out before he could say anything to me.

The next class was my favorite, Gym. Most students hated it, but I loved it. It was my way to work off all the stress and shit from home. The more shit I got, the harder I would push myself at the gym.

I had just finished changing in the locker room when the teacher came in.

“Dodgeball today, ladies!” she yelled. Everyone whined and complained, but I couldn’t wait for it. I longed to release all this pent-up anger inside of me before I went home.

The last time I went home with shit from school, I was beaten up so bad I had to do homeschool for two weeks so no one could see my bruises.

When I left the changing room, I saw all the ladies stretching as if they were getting ready to do some stripper moves on a pole.

I looked to my right and locked eyes with the one and only Asshat again. All the girls were obviously drooling over him, trying to put on a show.

His three amigos standing next to him smirked at me while his eyes rolled down my body and back up again. His face hardened into a deeper scowl.

I was wearing plain black shorts with a white T-shirt that read “Eat my dust.”

Well, Mr. Asshat, game on! I thought to myself before I went to stretch and get ready to take this douche out.
