My Brother's Roommate

Chapter 3

LAYLA

I wake up with a major headache. I’m lying on someone’s chest, which is never a good combination with a headache. I look up and see that I’m lying on Brandon’s bare chest, and I’m naked.

“OMG OMG OMG,” I say, starting to freak out, which wakes him up. I look at him and he’s wide-eyed.

“Oh, shit,” he says, leaning up on his elbows. I cover up my naked body before he sees it.

“What did we do last night?” I ask him, terrified.

“I don’t remember,” he says with his hand on his face.

“Shit, I just slept with my friend’s little sister.”

“Stop saying it like I’m still in high school,” I snap.

“Oh, trust me, what’s going through my mind right now isn’t you in high school,” he says with a smirk.

“Now you need to leave and forget this ever happened,” he says, rolling his eyes.

“I can’t even remember what happened,” I lie.

I remember what happened in bed clearly, I just don’t remember how we got there. I remember how he kissed every part of my body passionately. How he rubbed against me and how his tongue moved inside me.

I can’t even look at him. He leans closer and I can feel his breath on my neck.

“Then why can’t you look at me, baby,” he whispers.

Why did he have to call me baby? Now I can’t get it off my mind.

“Because you have a really ugly face,” I say, still not looking at him.

He grabs my wrists and pins me down on the bed. “Say that again, Layla, I dare you to.”

“What are you gonna do if I did, Brandon?” I tease.

He smirks and licks my neck. It makes me shiver under his touch.

“I’m gonna make you wish you didn’t have to leave this room,” he whispers in my ear.

Suddenly, we hear a knock on his bedroom door.

“Brandon, it’s Eric. I’m here to drop off some things for you,” I hear my brother say through the door.

My entire face goes cold. If my brother finds us in here like this, it’s over for Brandon and it’s all my fault. Why didn’t I just leave the room?

Brandon suddenly gets up and tells me to hide.

“Shit, I need you to hide,” he whispers.

“Hide where?” I ask.

“Here,” he says, pushing me into his closet.

He has handcuffs in here, but why, I think, biting my lip. He wraps a towel around his body, then opens the door.

“Here’s the thing I needed to drop off,” my brother says.

“Thanks,” Brandon replies.

“So I hear my little sister’s going to the same college as you,” Eric says.

“Yeah, but we haven’t started yet so I haven’t seen her around,” Brandon replies nervously.

“Good. But remember, just because I’m not around doesn’t mean she’s still not off limits,” my brother adds before leaving.

Once we hear the front door close, both of us sigh. Brandon opens the closet, and I cover up my naked body.

“Forget this happened,” he says, grabbing me and pushing me out of his room with my clothes.

I walk back into my room angrily. Geeze, he took my innocence, and this is how he treats me after. I hate his guts. But now I need to get ready for my first day of college.

I take a shower and then put my hair in a messy ponytail.

I drive to school in my car, unsure of how my first day will go. I have no idea where my classes are, and I don’t know anyone here.

I get out of my car and head into campus. I walk down the hallway and run into Lance again.

“Oh, I’m sorry,” I say.

“You’re that girl from the other night,” he says. “Layla, I think was your name?” he adds.

“Yeah, and yours was Lance, right?” I ask.

“Yeah,” he says. “You look a bit lost,” he says, chuckling.

“Yeah, actually I am,” I say, biting my lip.

“Well, you’re in luck. I’ve been going here for a while, so I can show you around a bit,” he says, rubbing the back of his neck.

“Okay, that would be great,” I say.

He walks me to each of my classes while showing me around before they start.

“Well, here we are, back to your first class,” he states.

“Thank you for showing me around,” I say, moving my hair behind my ear.

“You’re welcome.” He smiles. “Well, I better get going,” he adds.

“Okay,” I say nervously.

I watch him walk away before I realize Brandon leaning on the wall glaring at me. I roll my eyes at him. I’m still angry about the way he kicked me out of his room.

Suddenly, a girl walks up to him. He wraps his arms around her, and she pecks him on the lips.

I walk into my classroom, ignoring them. The class hasn’t started yet, so most of the seats are empty.

I sit down in an empty seat and scan around the room. There are about six people in here and ten seats empty. I take out all of my belongings and lay them neatly in front of me.

As more minutes pass, the class gets more full. A girl with reddish-orange hair sits next to me.

“Hello,” I say.

“Hi,” she says. “Are you a new student for Professor Dorthy?” she asks.

“Yes, I just moved here to go to college,” I say.

“Oh, that’s nice. Maybe I could show you around after school,” she says.

“Yeah, that would be nice,” I say, smiling.

“Okay, quiet down class. Today we will go over…”

After all of my classes are over, I meet up with the girl with red hair who I later found out the name was Kelsey. We meet up with her other friend Jenna.

“Layla, this is Jenna, my best friend. Jenna, this is Layla, a new student in my course,” Kelsey says.

“Hey, welcome to Howard University,” Jenna says, shaking my hand.

“Thank you, I’m looking forward to hanging out with you guys,” I say.

“You’re really gonna love the college parties,” Kelsey says, and we all giggle.

“So are we taking your car or mine?” Kelsey asks.

“We can take mine,” I say.

“All right, let’s go,” Jenna says, walking out of the building.

We all get into my car and I drive to a cafe they recommended. I had to turn on my GPS since I had no way in hell of knowing where I was going.

We finally got to the cafe and took a seat in a booth.

“So what are you studying?” Jenna asks me.

“Well, I want to be a vet,” I say. “So I’m studying animals.”

“Oh, I see,” Jenna says.

“I’m studying to be a zoologist,” Kelsey adds. “That’s why we are in the same courses.”

We continued talking for what felt like an hour before our food and drinks came. We ate, and I got to know the girls better. Turns out they are both the same age as me.

They started their courses two months earlier than me. Kelsey is engaged to a guy named Trevor. Jenna has a boyfriend named Connor.

After lunch, I take Kelsey back to school for her car and Jenna home. Then I head home.
