Groaning, I slam my hand down on the alarm, sending it a death glare for bringing me out of my paradise. Who wants to get up at 7:00 am?? Rubbing my eyes and finally realizing the time, I shoot up out of bed, making my way to the bathroom to get a shower.

Today is the day! The day that I start my new job for Scandalous, only the hottest magazine in the world! Okay well, maybe not in the world, but definitely my dream job. I've been working my xxx off for this position since I was a little girl, so for today to be the day my dreams turn into a reality, I can't help but feel a sense of victory.

Getting dressed in a knee length pencil skirt, with a white cameo and a long sleeve pink sweater, I check the time to see that I had thirty minutes to finish getting ready and make it to my new boss’s office. I slip on my nude heels and tied my long blonde hair up in a messy, but cute, bun. Grabbing my keys, laptop and purse and walking out to my blue Volkswagen Beetle.

My parents had gotten me my car for my high school graduation and I fell in love with it. To say that I was blessed with sweet parents would be an understatement, they were the absolute best. Always supportive and always there to give me advice when I needed it. I loved them with all my heart. Sighing, I pull into the first available spot, and jump out, locking my car in the process and heading to the door.

Walking in through the door, it was even more glamorous than the first time I was here. There, hanging from the ceiling, was an enormous sparkling chandelier. To my left was a luxurious beige couch, set in place for people to sit as they awaited their appointments.

In the center of the room was the receptionist's desk with a pretty girl managing the computer. I give her a polite smile and bypxxx her, heading to the elevator to ride it up to the 20th floor. Before I could hit the floor number, I hear a deep voice shout out, “HOLD THE ELEVATOR!”

Shooting my arm out, I wait for the man to step into the elevator. When he did, I drop my arm and look up to him to see him already smiling down at me. He has to be at least 5'9, with dark brown (almost black) hair, and striking blue eyes.

He is wearing a blue suit that screams sophisticated, however he has his top three buttons undone, giving a preview of the defined chest that lies underneath of his white undershirt.

When my eyes meet his, he gives me a devilish smile, “Thank you for holding the elevator. Although, I'm sure you are glad that you did now.” My cheeks heating up, I cough and looked away, embarrassed that he had caught me checking him out.

My first day and I'm already checking out men on the job. Pull it together Adalynn, xxxx it. I clear my throat and face forward, “You're welcome.” I comment to his previous statement. Watching the numbers change, I could feel his eyes on me.

“Are you new here? I've not seen you around before.” He asks.

“I am, actually. I’m the new journalist.” I answer, pride evident in my voice. I glance at him to see him studying me. Looking me up and down.

“Huh, wouldn't imagine a pretty woman like you to be into journalism. My name is Jaxon.” He holds out his hand, I took it politely, shaking it firmly.

“Adalynn.” I state simply.

Jaxon smiles at me, “Adalynn… I like it.” Giving me a wink, the elevator dinged, alerting us that we were at the 20th floor. I swallow the nerves, trying to regain my composer before stepping forward.

“Well this is me, nice to meet you.” I state professionally, getting off the elevator. Before the doors closed, I could hear Jaxon respond,

“The pleasure is all mine.”

Smiling, I make my way to the office that I remember to be Mr. Blake's, and knock on the door. I hear a grunt, followed by some shuffling of papers, “Come in,” a gruff voice spoke. I walk in to see a tall blonde woman, shirt half buttoned and hair sticking up at all ends, situating her skirt. Mr. Blake cleared his throat, drawing my attention to him, to see that he is completely shirtless.

Before I could drool over the well-defined muscles of his abdomen, I turn away, “Oh my gosh, I am so sorry! I was told to come in here when I got here. I’m so sorry, I will just be right out here!” I rush out, speeding out of the office and against the wall. I can't believe I just walked in on my boss doing— I don't even want to think about it.

Ugh! He is sure to not like me now, I ruined his good time. Great! Just what I needed, for my boss to hate me on the first day. Dropping my head into my hands, I take several deep breathes before I hear his door open. I pick up my head slightly to see the blonde walking out, giving me a look that clearly meant she wants me to drop dead, and walks to a room on the other end of the office that had “Ms. Piper” written on the door.

When I look to my right, I seen Mr. Blake, with his shirt on but still not buttoned all the way up, smirking at me with raised brows. “You can come with me now, Ms. Pepper.”

I trudge into his office behind him, sitting in the chair in front of his desk while he walks around and sits down, typing something into the computer.

My eyes trail down his face, taking in his features one at a time. His blonde hair and deep brown eyes, sun kissed tan and his sexy jaw bone, a few hairs on his chest that made a direct line down to where any girl would jump at the chance to go. He clears his throat, “Ms. Pepper, while I would like to take the time to acknowledge your beauty, we should discuss work.” My eyes met his in embarrassment, but notice his eyes darken a few shades.

I lick my lips and nod my head. “Yes. Um, in my interview you said to see you before getting started. I apologize for, um–disrupting your, erm, meeting? But I didn't know what to do or who else to ask wha–“

He holds up his hand, stopping me from rambling on any more, “It's fine, Adalynn. I will show you to your office and give you the rundown on what I expect you to accomplish and the main goal of the magazine.” He stands up and walks around the desk, waiting for me to get up.

I get to my feet quickly and wait for him to walk first. “My office? Okay.” I question, making sure I had understood him correctly. he walks over to the door and raises his hand.

“Ladies first,” he speaks, as he opens the door. How polite, I think as I go and head out of his office and to the hall. I wait for him to show me the directions to my office and when we arrive, I could not contain my excitement.

“THIS is my office?” I all but jump up and down, putting my purse on the desk and sitting down in the big chair behind the desk. I spin it around once before grinning at the satisfaction of the dizziness it gives me.

He grins at me, “Glad you like it. So, what I expect you to do, is try and create a story that is magazine worthy. I want it on my desk at the end of the work day, and then first thing tomorrow we will have a meeting deciding what articles will be published this week.”

I settle down my excitement and walked over to the window, leaning down to look at everything beneath us. “Any particular topic?” I question. Turning my attention back to him, I notice that his eyes were obviously focused on my xxx.

I grin and walk closer, choosing to not be the shy, scared girl I was in high school. I stop when I am right in front of Mr. Blake, biting my bottom lip slightly from nerves, “Mr. Blake?” I call. His eyes snap to mine, flickering down to my lips, and then back to meet my gaze. “Any particular topic?” I repeat, almost in a whisper, moving just a hair closer to him. I could see his Adams apple bob up and down, and his eyes go back to my lips.

Holding my laughter back, I watch as he moves an inch closer bringing his hand up to rub my arm, “No, whatever your pretty little heart desires to write about.” he finally says, as he was moving closer.

Turning suddenly, I waltz over to my seat and plop down, not hiding the big smirk on my face, “Perfect! I'll have something on your desk by the end of the day, Mr. Blake.”

He stood there, with shock written clearly across his handsome face, realizing what just happened. He turns his gaze to meet my eyes, playfulness filling them with a look that says, 'oh it’s so on' covering his face, “Have a good day, Ms. Pepper.”

Spinning on his heels, he retreats back to his office, but not before he turns and gave me a wink that xxxures me that he would have the upper hand soon.

I sit back in my chair, letting the breath that I didn't know I was holding in, out. What did I just start? And why in the xxxx did I just intentionally flirt with my boss knowing he is taken?

As the day went by, I was too concentrated on my writing that I didn't hear someone walk into my office. Jumping out of my skin when they tap on my desk. Looking up I come face to face with Mr. Blake. Confused, I looked at the time. xxxx! Its already 8 at night!

I gasp, “Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry, I didn't think it was so late!” I told him, quickly hitting print on my article.

He looks at me, “You looked deep in your work.” Looking up, he looked appreciative? As if no one else works this hard. Which I find hard to believe considering this is where all the magic happens to create Scandalous. Giving him a once over, I realize he looks drained. Physically and mentally.

“I was. I'm passionate about what I write.” I shrug, handing him my work from the printer, grabbing my purse and shoving my laptop in it. I stand up and make my way around the desk, aware that Mr. Blake was following suit. Making my way to the elevator, I press the button to go down, standing in silence with Mr. Blake right beside me.

“Baby, I just finished up, want to go back to your place, or mine?” Ms. Piper questions, strutting her way over to Mr. Blake, throwing her arms around his neck while setting her lips on his possessively. I look away, trying to give them some kind of privacy. What the xxxx is taking this elevator so long?

I heard Mr. Blake grunt before he spoke, “Finished? Then where is your work?” Sneaking a glance over at Ms. Piper, watching her fidget nervously before she decides to answer with,

“I'll just finish it in the morning baby. I'm so tired, I just need to relax.” Jutting her bottom lip out, trying to look… sexy? I'm not sure what she was trying to accomplish but Mr. Blake did not fall for it.

“Sam, I told you. Just because you give all the guys on this floor the time of day, does not mean you get special treatment. Since you are the one that hasn't finished your work on time this week, then you will be the responsible for the coffee runs…ALL next week. For everyone. Got it?” He states sternly, as the elevator finally opens.

I rush in hoping that they would be distracted enough not to join me on the elevator. However, my luck just isn't what it used to be. Mr. Blake steps inside, just a second before the doors shut behind him, leaving Sam stuck on the floor to await the next elevator. Trying not to make eye contact, I focus on my nails.

Man, I really need to repaint them. Maybe I will go with a blue color next time. Or teal, that is a nice color. Mr. Blake steps towards me noticeably, wearing a sly grin. Trying to create a bigger distance between us, I take a step back, hitting the back of the elevator. His grin widens, he takes another step, closing the distance to where not even a piece of paper could slip in between us. Biting my lip, I let my eyes slowly meet his. “What are you doing, Mr. Blake?” I question, mentally patting myself on the back for not stuttering.

“You think you are the only one that can tease here, Adalynn?” His minty breath hitting my face, causing a feeling in the pit of my stomach that I shouldn't be feeling, especially caused by my boss.

“I didn't mean to tease, Mr. Blake. I apologize.” I didn’t realize that I was subconsciously tilting my head up, making it to where there was just a centimeter between our lips.

“You have no idea what kind of things you had running through my mind all day, Ms. Pepper,” he licks his lips, eyeing me over. “Things that would have you screaming my name.” Shocked to the core, I open and close my mouth, not knowing what to say.

This can't really be happening, right? I’m dreaming. I had to be. “Mr. Blake, you have a girlfriend. I don't think-” he cut me off by taking my bottom lip between his teeth and sucking on it, causing a small gasp to escape from me. Releasing my lip, he leaned in so that he was blowing hot breath on my ear causing me to shiver.

“My name is Ryder, you'll need to know what to scream out later.” Heart thudding in my chest, he takes a step back, giving me my space again. I stare openly at him, but before I could collect my thoughts, the elevator slides open.

Ryder, strolling out of the elevator, states over his shoulder, “Oh, and I don't have a girlfriend, Ms. Pepper.” before he disappears.

Walking out to my car, I stop to compose myself. What the xxxx just happened?!?
